History of Mir Osman Ali Khan:
The last Nizam of Hyderabad, a charismatic personality, and the founder of modern Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan was born on 6 April 1886. Despite being given an offer to either migrate to Pakistan or stay here, in India Ali had other plans. He made an agreement for a year to neither go with India nor Pakistan. But later He surrendered to the Indian army and Hyderabad became a part of India. He had developed Hyderabad so much that he was called the "Architect of modern Hyderabad".During his rule, he built the high court of Hyderabad, the State bank of Hyderabad, Osmania University, Osmania Hospital, and Begumpet Airport, the first international airport in Hyderabad. The nizam was the world's richest person. His total net worth was 2% of the USA's GDP. He was rich enough that he used an old expensive diamond as a paperweight once he went to buy a Rolls Royce but he was insulted for being Indian but he was also the Nizam of Hyderabad, so to take revenge he taught English to a man, and made him a gentleman and then that man bought some Rolls Royce and used them for garbage collection. this incident attacked on the prestige of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd and made them understand that you can't insult an Indian, especially Nizams.
How did Nizam Helped India:
The help of Nizam for India can never be forgotten. Nizam proved to be a blessing for India in Sino-Indian War in 1962 by donating 5,000 kg of gold to Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The honorable prime minister announced that his gold would not be melted but would be sent abroad in form of a gold bond. He also donated to India's gold scheme. Nizam in 1932 donated money for the holy book of Mahabharata. He knew how much important it was to invest in education for youth so he invested in one of the prestige universities that was Banaras Hindu University. He also invested in the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Aligarh Muslim University.
HOW DID HIS BANK HELP INDIA:
His bank Hyderabad State Bank managed the currency of Hyderabad as at that time princely owned state had their own currencies. In 1948 SBH had 50 branches. In 1948 it became a part of SBI. After the formation of Telangana in 2014 SBH bank was the leading bank in Telangana. In 2016 it had a business of ₹ 2.60 lakh crore. SBH was nationalized and became a part of SBI. Later in 2017, it merged with SBI.
CONCLUSION:
Beautiful souls always remain in our hearts the story of Nizam taught us the lesson of kindness and donations. He was and will always be an integral part of an Indian businessman. How his help to India saved in Sino-Indian War and the establishment of universities. He took his last breath on Friday, 24 February 1967. He was buried in Masjid-e Judi, a mosque where his mother was buried. As per his last wish.
